Hillary Steinau
Hillary specializes in editorial design including magazines, catalogs, marketing materials, and print advertising. She has been working professionally in graphic design since 1993.
Hillary is a native of New York where she attended Parsons School of Design. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She moved to London in 1989 where she studied photography. After graduation Hillary stayed in London and worked on consumer magazines including Destination Discovery, Marie Claire, Prima, and Select. Hillary then moved to Munich where she designed and art directed German lifestyle magazines.
Hillary moved to Maine in 2003 and has enjoyed providing design services for both local and national clients including: Unity College, Maine Farmland Trust, Cedar Works Play Sets, SKORDO, Maine Maritime Academy and The Smithsonian National Zoo.
She is also an avid photographer. When not in the studio, Hillary is usually to be found in her back yard with her 3 Maine Coon cats and 10 hens.
MiroslawJurek
Polish born, Miroslaw Jurek is a highly accomplished Creative Director. He has designed and art directed many magazine titles both in USA and abroad. Previously, he has worked at Mojo and FHM magazines in the UK, Mademoiselle in New York, and GQ in Germany.
He has a wide scope of experience art directing photo shoots and has worked with award winning photographers from all over the world shooting music and fashion celebrities.
Mirek also works as the Design Director at Down East Magazine, where he brings his global design perspective to all things Maine. In 2012, Mirek led the redesign of the publication creating a contemporary look while still maintaining the spirit of this six decades old magazine. Mirek has designed numerous books for Down East, including a successful new line of cook books.
Before working as a designer, Mirek was a show jumper in Warsaw and taught horse riding in Hyde Park Stables, UK. When not designing beautiful work, he can be found fishing for squid in Rockport Harbor and gardening.
